MAXIMA takes its name from the “maxima” or “duplex longa”—the longest note in medieval musical notation.

A symbol of longevity, it represents continuity across time, anchoring the past while resonating in the present.

This spirit of connection is at the heart of the MAXIMA Festival, a classical music event that explores new pathways between historical tradition and contemporary creation. Our mission is to highlight both the contrasts and the deep links between eras and aesthetics, with a special focus on music being written today.
